The internet is a tremendous asset for genealogy research. There’s simply no other way I could have identified and tracked the 16,000+ people now listed in my family tree. However, sooner or later, every researcher will hit a roadblock and have to consider actually putting “boots on the ground.” This article resulted from my own road trip, a case study with a very happy ending.
